3-Year-Old Struck in Hit-and-Run Accident in St. Louis
St. Louis, MO. Thursday evening a 3-year-old child was struck in a hit-and-run accident in South St. Louis.
The accident happened around 7 p.m. near the intersection of Osage Street and California Avenue. The child was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and is in critical condition.

Hit-and-run accidents are on the rise – since 2009, hit-and-run deaths have increased an average of 7.2 percent each year. According to a study by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, this translates to more than one hit-and-run accident occurring every minute in the U.S.
The primary victims of hit-and-run accidents are pedestrians and bicyclists, with 19.5 percent of pedestrian fatalities caused by hit-and-run crashes. The majority of hit-and-run accidents occur at night and involve distracted driving (or a distracted pedestrian), and drug and alcohol use. Drugs and alcohol impair a person’s ability to reason, delays reflexes, and decreases the amount of focus that a driver or pedestrian has when behind the wheel, or crossing the street, which can increase the odds of an accident occurring.
If you are involved in a hit-and-run accident, it’s crucial to stay calm, call the police, stay at the scene, and talk to a Hit-and-Run Car Accident Lawyer in St. Louis as soon as you can. Evidence can quickly deteriorate, especially in hit-and-run accidents, but by filing a police report and consulting a lawyer, substantial evidence from the crash can be preserved, an investigation can begin, and the chances of catching the driver that caused your hit-and-run accident are significantly increased.
