Car Crashes into a Police Vehicle on I-270 Near Lambert Airport While Fleeing Another Car

St. Louis, MO. – A police officer was injured Monday afternoon after a speeding car rammed into the officer’s squad car near Edmunson. The officer’s injuries were not life-threatening, but he was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, the driver that caused the crash was fleeing another car at the time of the accident, but the chase did not involve the police. The drivers that were involved in the chase were arrested, but at this time, the accident is still under investigation, and further information has yet to be released.

Most Common Causes of Speeding Accidents

It likely isn’t a surprise, but one of the top causes of car accidents is speeding, closely followed by distracted driving. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, in 2016, there were 10,111 fatalities caused by speeding. In addition to car chases, the most common causes of speeding accidents include:

  • Driving under the influence
  • Driver fatigue
  • Car defects
  • Bad weather
  • Failure to Yield

Speeding isn’t something that should be taken lightly. If you are in a car accident that was caused by speeding, you could be eligible to recover damages from the responsible party and get justice for your pain and suffering by filing a claim with the help of an experienced lawyer.

What Can I Do If I’m Injured in a Speeding Accident?

If you are injured in a speeding accident, or someone you love has been killed because of a crash caused by speeding, it’s crucial to call the police, gather evidence, speak with a lawyer, and file a claim against the negligent party. No one deserves to be injured or killed because of another person’s negligence while behind the wheel, and if it does happen, victims deserve to be adequately compensated. Hiring an experienced car accident lawyer to represent your case provides support when filing an insurance claim against the other party, increases the chances of obtaining damages, and offers a sense of relief knowing that someone that has your case’s best interests at heart is right by your side.

Speak with a Lawyer About Your Speeding Accident Case Today

If you have been in a speeding accident, you need to speak with a lawyer about the crash immediately. Failure to consult a lawyer about your case could allow for evidence to deteriorate, the other party to offer you a lower settlement, or for you to have to forfeit your right to recover damages for your pain and suffering. If you are ready to file a claim against the negligent driver that caused your speeding accident, contact the Dixon Injury Firm today to schedule a consultation and discuss your case with our experienced Car Accident Lawyers.
