Fatal Illinois Car Accident
A motorcyclist from Bondville, Illinois died early Thursday in a crash where alcohol may have been a factor. According to the Illinois State Police, the 40-year-old cyclist was killed while the man who hit the victim with his vehicle was given a chemical test. The crash occurred this morning between both vehicles at around 6:30 a.m. on Illinois 10 at the I-72 overpass. The forty-eight year old who hit the cyclist was driving his van east on Illinois 10 and was getting ready to turn up the I-72 ramp. According to the report, he said the sun blinded his eyes and caused him to strike the cyclist head on. Following the accident, the van driver was charged illegal transportation of open alcohol, failure to yield turning left, and driving with a revoked license. The driver was injured, but denied medical treatment in excess of the mandatory chemical test.
