Traffic Accidents Are a National Problem

Each year, approximately 2.6 million people are injured in motor vehicle accidents according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The NHTSA reported the number of passenger vehicle occupants injured in crashes increased by 107,000, or 5.2% between 2014 and 2015. The number of passenger vehicle occupant fatalities also increased within that time frame by 1,391 or 6.6%.

The increase in motor vehicle accidents should serve as a reminder to always remain alert and aware of your surroundings and other drivers.

  • Remain at the scene – never leave the scene of an accident.
  • Check on all involved parties – call 911 in applicable.

  • Inform your insurance company – file a claim with your insurance company after you have spoken to your lawyer.
  • Take photographs – document property damage and injuries sustained during the accident.
  • Document medical treatment- keep detailed records of any medical treatment stemming from the accident.
