Semi-Truck Falls Off Poplar Street Bridge in St. Louis
St. Louis, MO. – On Sunday, a semi-truck travelling on I-55 flipped off of the Poplar Street Bridge in downtown St. Louis, MO.
The semi-truck was carrying loads of cauliflower that authorities say crews are steadily working to clean up. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but it is known that two people were involved in the crash. It’s unclear whether the second person in the crash was an occupant in the truck, a pedestrian, or a passenger vehicle occupant, but both injured parties denied medical treatment.
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, though passenger vehicle occupants are more likely to be injured or killed in a truck accident, of the truck drivers that are killed in accidents every year, 48% of truck occupant deaths are caused by rollover crashes.
