St. Louis City Shooting at Stevens Institute

On Tuesday, January 15, 2013, a Stevens Institute of Business and Arts student walked into the school, shot a school administrator and then shot himself. Helicopters and police continue to patrol the 1400 and 1500 block of Washington Avenue, in St. Louis City, Missouri.

Police report that the shooting occurred on the 4th floor of the Stevens Institute. A handgun was recovered inside the school, and two bodies were removed from the building. The number of casualties are not yet known. At the time of the shooting, about 40 students were located in the building and escorted to safety.

Washington Avenue is completely shut down beginning at 14th street.  Reports state the shooter was a part time Stevens Institute student for the past 4 years. The suspect and victim are presently at SLU hospital in critical condition.
